I Did It Myself!

Hi Al, Glen's garage. I wanted to tell you about the hurricane threat we had last year and my concern with the Fireball 2000 on the roof. I was more worried since it uses the tilt kit and not mounted flush. I haven't been worried on lesser hurricanes, but this was a major storm.

The storm had built up strength to 150 MPH winds and they were predicting a direct hit. Since I knew how easy it was to put up the Fireball 2001, I opted to take it down for this major hurricane. It was quite easy to take down, even with the two panels mounted together.

After closing off the water flow to and from the panels, I drained them (I am really glad the fittings are there to make draining very easy). I disconnected the flow pipes at the panels, removed the purge valve and disconnected the sensor. Then I took the six mounting bolts off at the base and it was ready to take down! My neighbor came over and we carried it down and leaned it on the edge of the roof. We climbed down and carried it into to garage. It only took about 30 - 40 minutes to get the whole thing down and stored in the garage. Glen's solar system close-up.

Similarly, it went back up just as easy (after the second hurricane went by). I really liked having the flexability to take it down, especially since I have the tilt kit and it is not mounted flat with the roof.

I am still very happy with the Fireball 2001, it has been working well for almost two years now. Take care and let me know if you are ever in town again.

Regards,
Glenn P.
