NEVADA SOLAR ENERGY NEWS

NEVADA SOLAR ONE MARKS

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

June 9, 2008 - Based on fact sheet on http://nevadasolarone.net

June 2008 marks the one year anniversary of the launching of Nevada Solar One. The clean renewable solar energy plant is owned by Acciona, which is based in Madrid, Spain. The plant has been built in Boulder City,

NV, about 40 miles southeast of Las Vegas. It covers 300 acres, or the size of about 200 football fields. It took only 16 months to build with $266 million.

Nevada Solar One makes its revenue from two companies that have purchased its entire electricity production under long-term power purchase agreements that ensure fixed electricity costs. Those companies are Nevada Power Company and Sierra Pacific Power Company. The plant's nominal production capacity is 64 megawatts with a maximum capacity of 75 megawatts, allowing for over 14,000 households to be powered annually. The electricity produced by the solar plant has near zero carbon dioxide emissions.

The launch of Nevada Solar One in June 2007 made Nevada the largest per capita generator of solar power in the United States. The operation is now the third largest concentrated solar power plant in the world.
