FLORIDA'S APPLICANTS FOR SOLAR INCENTIVE PROGRAM PUT ON WAITING LIST June 9, 2008 - Based on info from Florida Department of Environmental Protection
Florida applicants hoping to cash in on state renewable energy incentives have been placed on a waiting list, according to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. "Due to large volume of rebate applications received and funding awarded," the government website states, "the budget for the fiscal year 2007-2008 has been exhausted." The Department says that as of May 27, 2008 there are 2,502 approved applications totaling over $4 million awaiting the next fiscal year funds, pending state approval. The Florida Solar Energy System Incentives Program is a result of the 2006 Florida Energy Act, which was supposed to create $100 million in funding through 2010 for renewable energy programs.
