SOLAR INSTALLATION AT DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO BE READY BY AUGUST March 5,, 2008 - Based on press release on www.worldwater.com
Denver International Airport (DIA), the fifth busiest airport in America, will become one of the biggest solar airports in the country this summer. The plan was announced in October 2007. Despite delays, the solar electric project should be ready for the Democratic National Convention in August. The solar system is being developed by a partnership between MMA Renewable Ventures, LLC (a subsidiary of Municipal Mortgage & Equity LLC) and WorldWater & Solar Technologies Corp. The 2 megawatt PV system is expected to produce 3.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. The $13 million project is being designed and installed by WorldWater & Solar Technologies. It will be financed by MMA Renewable Ventures, who will own and operate the solar system and sell power to DIA under specified conditions. DIA is operated by the City and County of Denver. The airport made history when it opened in 1995 as the first all new American airport in two decades.
